Challenge

With limited access to resources and poverty being a major issue facing Gazans, it is important to supplement children with items they will need for a successful education. Children and their families oftentimes cannot afford backpacks to carry necessary school items back and forth. Access to adequate personal care and hygiene further hinders a child’s ability to learn and get the most out of their education.

Solution

1,500 backpacks and hygiene kits were distributed to school-children in Gaza.

Each backpack also included:

  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Bar Soap
  • Towel
  • Water Bottle

While the backpack helps children carry their books and schoolwork safely, hygiene kits are also essential to making sure the child is ready to learn. Feeling distracted by personal cleanliness can detract from focus on school. However, freshening up and carrying a backpack they are excited about helps arm them with the pride and confidence to succeed.

Distribution

A total of 1,500 backpacks and hygiene kits, which included toothpaste, a toothbrush, bar of soap, and towels were distributed to school-children in Gaza.

Long-Term Impact

Education is critical for empowerment. Helping prepare students for success in school helps them better prepare for lifelong prosperity. Providing tools for a more functional education will build their knowledge, confidence, and ability to make positive change in their lives and those of others. This is also an annual fundraiser, to make sure there is consistent access to much needed resources.
